Tobago Wedding Advice

Wedding Dress

If you decide that you want to bring your own wedding dress from home most of the airlines will allow you to bring it as separate hand luggage. When you get to your seat on the plane you can talk to the flight attendants and see if they will hang it up in a ‘wardrobe; which are normally in the business class cabin. Once you get to your hotel hang it up immediately and the climate will help get out most of the ‘wrinkles’

Set a Realistic Budget

You might have to change it slightly due to unforeseen circumstances, but it is best to keep the budget firmly in mind so you do not over spend.

Remember, the only truly important things that you must have at a wedding is the “officiant’, a license, the bride and groom and two witnesses, everything else is an added bonus! So, if you are aiming for an extravagant wedding or a simple wedding you have come to the right place.

Be Flexible

Some things are just not possible to do in a tropical climate, so you might need to be flexible with regards to what is really important for your special day.

Wedding Planner

Decide if you are going to plan your wedding yourself or get someone to do it for you. If you are both living outside of Tobago then I would recommend you hire a planner who lives in Tobago. They will know where to find things, if something is available or not in Tobago and any essential things that are needed for a wedding.

Having a Theme

Do you want a certain theme for your wedding? For mine, as it was on a beach I wanted it to be casual beach wear, so my guests were comfortable during the day. If you are coming from abroad to marry in Tobago, if you have a theme you will have to remember that guests will need to possibly bring the themed outfit along with them - cutting down on luggage space for the rest of their time in Tobago.

Relax

Do not over plan, whatever you do relax, remember Tobago is on ‘island time’ and as such things will take longer, people will not turn up on time. You do not want to be spending your wedding day stressing about what has to be done and how it has to be done, the simpler the plan the better it is.

Best Time to get Married

An early morning wedding or later in the afternoon, around 4/5pm time is best, however you must make sure that all the official part of the wedding is completed before 6pm otherwise it will not be legal.

Tobago Legal Wedding Requirements
